I remember what it was like before the internet, before we could communicate so quickly to each other, before we had such easy access to so many resources, so many different views into cultural events, history, so many different life stories and ideas... I remember when artists were so much more isolated from one another with their bodies of work, insights and passions... Going back hundreds and thousands of years I try to imagine the nature of the minds then, the forces of visions, influences and work ethic, among countless other things. But a thousand years really isn't all that long in the grand scheme of things; not as distant as today's city surroundings can make it feel sometimes. Compared to back then, we have a relative 'magic' available today with these tools connecting us to a perception and use of events and people like never before: reminders of how interwoven we are to the beautiful, inevitable forces of the universe. Websites are like planets. We are blessed to be alive in this age, able to communicate, travel and appreciate so much so easily, letting our discoveries out into the world whenever we want, pollinating with our interconnected creative energy. And as musicians and artists today we are like a new species, with more influences than ever before. We are so fortunate to be alive and able to grow into something so unique. Oh, let us be content and celebrate the over-abundance, the fruits of our efforts and multiplicity... Here's to your health and spirit! I love sharing my self and inspirations with you... And all of this "work": does it actually exist? If the world suddenly blew up, could it still be said to have existed? From the perspective of another planet, does it exist? Does it CARE that we do all this? Is our work permanent? It is all just energy, thought and emotion needing to be exercised and fulfilled; we are each unique conduits for the time in which we live. And life is just too short to be anything but magical and true to our curious and expressive-spiritual selves! I wholeheartedly agree with Picasso when he said "the essential thing is to create enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is what we need most..."
